Kent is a founding member and past-president of the Evangelical Homiletics Society. Currently he serves as a member of the editorial board of the Journal of the Evangelical Homiletics Society. EHS is a community of homileticians who care about biblical preaching in the context of church and society.
The Evangelical Homiletics Society is an academic society formed for the exchange ideas related to the instruction of biblical preaching. EHS’s goals are as follows:
*to advance the cause of biblical preaching through the promotion of a biblical-theological approach;
*to increase competence for teachers of preaching;
*to integrate the fields of communication, biblical studies, and theology;
*and to provide scholarly contributions to the field of homiletics.
The EHS was established in 1997.
